Beauty Tips

Hair – Try to figure out how you want your hair for the night of the pageant before you take your headshot.  It can confuse the judges when they get to know a girl by her picture, but whose hair looks very different in the interview or on stage.  Also realize you may need to change your hair for your talent.  There will be women in the dressing room to help you with your hair makeup and changing outfits.

Makeup - You need to wear makeup in the right amount. Not too much make up and not too little. Your makeup should accentuate your features without drawing attention to the makeup itself. On stage the lights wash out your look, so a little more or a stronger looking makeup is required.  It also helps to widen or separate the eyes by placing lighter makeup on the inside of the eye.  Again you can easily go overboard or not have enough makeup on stage.  Nothing will compensate for practice in this category.  Do not wear glitter makeup or in hair or glitter lotion.  You need to look natural.

Eye Lashes - False lashes usually help on stage and even in interview. If you choose to wear false lashes practice putting them on. Lash extensions work very well.  As with all things you can go to far and not look normal.

Lip stick - As with makeup the suggestion with lipstick is to wear it but not in a way that draws attention to it.  Find a color that suits you and that doesn’t distract from your overall look.

Waxing – Wax before you get a spray tan.  Remember to do your upper lip as well.

Heels – Nude heels for swimsuit will help your legs and not draw attention away from the rest of you.

Swimsuit – Go with solid colors for your swimsuit.

Jewelry – Please keep jewelry simple.  Again it should add to your look and not be a distraction.  A necklace is only appropriate in evening gown.

What is butt glue and where do I get it?  - It is a spray glue that will keep your swimming suit from riding up.  You can use any type but the brand that seems to be the easiest to find is: Elmer's Multi-Purpose Aerosol Spray Adhesive.  You can get it at Walmart or any craft store.
