Updated Information Regarding the Miss Magna Pageant and the Miss Teen Pageant



We are starting our 2013 pageant season.  

Requirements for Miss Magna Pageant: (teen pageant requirements are listed further down on the page)
1. Ages 17 to 23 (17 and 23 included) on June 29th, 2013
2. Live, go to school, or work in Magna during the years 2011-2013

Orientation
We will be doing several things over the next few weeks to get things started.  The big event of course will be Orientation.  Here is the information for it:
Miss Magna 2013 Orientation for ages 13 and up
Date:   March 5, 2013
Time:   7:00 p.m.
Place:  Cyprus High School Cafeteria
It will be 1 hour long and please invite Parents or Friends.
Personal Improvement Months vs Pageant Month
This Year we are going to be fully separating the 3 months of March, April and May and calling them "Personal Improvement Months."  This is your preparation time for the pageant.  These workshops during this time period are not required to participate in the pageant, but we strongly encourage you to come. We will hold 6 to 8 workshops during this time period to help everyone with their personal improvement.  Personal improvement is open to any young woman age 13-23 and is only $25 for the entire 3 months.  We are upgrading all the workshops so be ready.  Please note that this year we are starting the Miss Magna Teen Pageant so there will be lots more people at each workshop, so even if you are shy and want to sit in the back, come.
June will now be called "Pageant Month."  Registration for the pageant will be due June 1st with all the materials you will need to compete (like resume, plateform statement, etc).

A Day of Service
Mock Interviews
Talent Practice On Stage
Head Shot Night
Princess Party

Workshops
There is so much material to cover in the first 3 workshops that we have decided to hold them every week on Tuesday's instead of every 2 weeks.  After the first 3 workshops we will have them every 2 weeks.  Here is the schedule as it currently stands:
Workshop 1 - Tuesday March 12
Workshop 2 - Tuesday March 19
Workshop 3 - Tuesday March 26
Workshop 4 - Tuesday April 16
Workshop 5 - Tuesday April 30
Workshop 6 - Tuesday May 14
Pageant
The pageant itself will be held:
Date:  June 29, 2013
Time:  7:00 pm
Place: Cyprus High Auditorium
Areas of Competition
The areas of competition are set from the Miss America system. 
  • Private Interview 25%
  • Lifestyle and Fitness 15%
  • Talent 35%
  • Evening Gown 20%
  • On Stage Question 5%
The areas will be the same, however Lifestyle and Fitness (Swimsuit) will be held on stage just in front of the judges.  So there will not be swimsuit competition in front of an audience, it will be a closed competition for the judges only.  
Miss Magna Outstanding Teen Pageant
This year we are excited to start a teen pageant.  The teen pageant qualification rules are:
  
1. Age 13 to 16 (13 and 16 included) on June 28th, 2013
2. Live, go to school, or work in Magna during the years 2011-2013
The pageant will be held the night before the regular pageant
Date: June 28, 2013
Time: 7:00 pm
Place: Cyprus High Auditorium
The lifestyle and fitness section for the teen pageant is an onstage fitness/dance routine in workout clothing.  There is NO swimsuit. 
Please contact all the girls you know in that age range and get them excited to come to Orientation with their parents.
Conclusion
We will be having an information booth during lunch at the High School and both Jr. Highs to promote the pageant.  Please also do what you can to promote it.  We would love to get more girls who are over the age of 18 to participate.  We can't get them through the high school, so please get on facebook and start contacting girls you know who have already graduated and that you think might be interested.
